Apple internal browning

One can think of an apple it is born from a flower, grows to maturity while green and astringent, becomes mature when internal starches turn to sugar and flavor develops fully, exhibits senescence as its texture becomes mushy and soft, and finally it dies as it disintegrates into a brown rotted pile of slime. The apple reveals all the stages of the cycle of life. [Pg.435]
