Aporrectodea tuberculata

Earthworm, Aporrectodea tuberculata concentrations of zinc in soil, in mg/kg DW, ranged from 28 to 470 vs. concentrations in whole worms (less gut contents), in mg/kg DW... [Pg.683]

A study using Aporrectodea tuberculata revealed some important issues of general significance (Flaimi and Paavola 1998) (1) the toxicity of pentachlor-phenol from contaminated and uncontaminated sites was not significantly different, so that preexposure had no effect on the response to the toxicant and (2) these observations could most readily be accommodated by taking into account the fact that earthworms can diminish their susceptibility to toxicants by physical avoidance. [Pg.729]
