Apatite chemistry in Ca-Mn-Fe space

Rock Composition/Association Representative Examples References [Pg.262]

Sources for information about apatite chemistry, including representatives of each of the locations used in the compilation, and the notation used in the figures. [Pg.262]

Low temperature, hydrothermally altered rocks (Low-T) Cerro de Mercado, Mexico Kauhajarvi, Finland locations within the Ural Mountains El Laco, Chile Bayan Obo, Iimer Mongolia (Andersen and Austrheim 1991 Binder and Troll 1989 Cruft 1966 Fominykh 1974 Karkkainen and Appelqvist 1999 Liu and Comodi 1993 Roegge et al. 1974 Smith 1999 Young et al. 1969) [Pg.263]

The values are reported as averages however, this in not meant to infer that apatite chemistry displays a normal distribution about a mean, but is displayed as such for simplicity sake. Sufficient analyses of mafic pegmatites were not present in the literature to be included. The compilation represents over 1000 analyses and is not meant to be all-inclusive. The following abbreviations are used N is the number of analyses represented (however, not all elements were analyzed for in all analyses) Avg is the mean Std is lo standard deviation about the mean, and - indicates that sufficient data within a petrogenetic group are not available in the present dataset to appropriately define. [Pg.264]
