Antiphase-boundary energies anisotropy

As has already been discussed (Sauthoff, 1986), the anomaly results from the anisotropy of the energy and mobility of the superlattice screw dislocations, which determine the plastic deformation of NijAl. The screw dislocations can split on 111 planes and on (01 planes. The splitting on 1 is favored energetically because the energy of the antiphase boundaries (APBs) between the partials is lower on (010). However, a superdislocation on Klll is sessile because the dislocation cores of the partials spread outside the plane... [Pg.64]
