Antimony magnetic susceptibility

The temperature dependences of the electrical conductivity, the thermoelectric power, and the magnetic susceptibility of sintered samples of tin dioxide, doped with antimony and zinc oxides, were measured in air in the 20-1300°C temperature range. At attempt is made, on the basis of these measurements, to explain the changes In the above properties, in samples of different composition, by a change in the valence of the added Impurity. [Pg.27]

The magnetic susceptibility of all five compositions was measured in the 20-1300°C temperature range (Fig. 4). All the samples have one feature in common they are diamagnetic over the whole temperature range, and the magnetic susceptibility increases with increase in the antimony content (compositions 3, 4, and 5). [Pg.29]

In addition to this, since the pentavalent Sb ion is present (for composition 5), the radius of which is considerably less than that of Zn, Sb, and Sn, the diamagnetic component of the susceptibility is much lower this is confirmed by the nature of the dependence of the magnetic susceptibility on the antimony concentration. [Pg.30]

On analyzing the variation of the magnetic susceptibility with temperature for these compositions, it appears that, when the temperature is increased, the following factors begin to have an effect 1) increase in the oxygen vacancy concentration 2) increase in the fraction of pentavalent antimony ions 3) increase (mainly) in the radii of the anion-forming atoms. These factors are influential in different temperature ranges. [Pg.30]
