Anthony, Peter

Guy Dutton was a true gentleman and a scholar. Tall and distinguished in appearance, and with a superb command of the English language he will be remembered for many different reasons. Professionally, he will be remembered as an inspiring teacher, for his contributions to carbohydrate chemistry, for his service to Canadian chemistry, and his exceptional organizational talents. Very many people worldwide will remember his career with affection and honor. Guy is survived by his wife, Marise, and their three sons, Anthony, Peter, and Robin. [Pg.8]

In 1951, Guy Dutton met his future wife, Marise Atkinson, at a cocktail party, and after a short courtship of a few months they were married. Marise was a very important factor in Guy s career and supported him staunchly throughout. She accompanied Guy on many of his sabbatical trips and to most of the scientific and professional conferences he attended. Marise was always a warm and gracious hostess at the many gatherings in the Dutton home. Their hospitality earned them a very special place in the hearts of many people who visited them in Vancouver.
