Annex 3.1 Catalytic Efficiency and Selectivity

The design of more efficient catalysts approaching and even surpassing the TON and selectivity of enzymes is an actively pursued goal. An ideal catalyst will match the substrate selectively and ensure comparable rates of the reaction steps. 

Some new homogeneous catalysts, containing sophisticated ligands, have already been considered (Annex 2) and applications to industrially interesting procedures can be expected.
