In this case an ion which can be directly indicated and which reacts quantitatively with the substance to be determined is added to the conditioning solution instead of a com-plexing agent. In this way the aluminum concentration can be determined via the decrease in fluoride concentration. One must be sure, of course, that in this case the ion to be determined is never present in larger amounts than the indicated ion.
