Anabsinthin

Active Constituents Absinthine (a dimeric guaianolide), anabsinthin, and a volatile oil mainly consisting of thujone. [Pg.22]

Anabsinthin (guaine sesquiterpene dimer) Artemisia caruifolia (Asteraceae) HIV-1 protease (< 50% inhibition at 200 pM) [51]... [Pg.574]

Main components 0.5-1.3% essential oil, bitter sesquiterpene lactones (artabsin, ab-sinthin, anabsinthin), flavonoids for further constituents see [300[. [Pg.247]

Absinthii herba (1). The H,SO, reagent reveals a band of at least ten while-blue fluorescent zones from the start up to the solvent front. The sesquiterpene lactone absinthin (IT, id 0.3) and its isomer anabsinthin directly below fluoresce white-yellow in UV-365 nm. Artabsin (T2), which migrates up to Rf — 0.6, is highly concentrated in freshly harvested plants only. [Pg.90]

Phytochemistry The herb contains 0.17-2 % essential oil which contains sesquiterpene lactones (absinthin, anabsinthin and artabasin), flavonoids (artemetin), tannins, organic acids, vitamin C and carotene (Khahnatov et al. 1984). The roots were found to contain many lignans ((jreger and Hofer 1980). [Pg.41]

The main bitter component of wormwood Artemisia absinthium) is a dimeric sesquiterpenic lactone absinthin (8-252), which is produced by intramolecular cycloaddition (Diels-Alder reaction) probably of two molecules of astabisin (8-253), which is derived from guaiane. In wormwood extracts, absinthin is transformed into isomeric anabsinthin (8-254). The bitter taste of mugwort (A. vulgaris) is derived primarily from the related compounds estafiatin (8-255) and balchanin (8-256), which are... [Pg.646]
