Amphiphilic marine siderophores

Synechobactins (Fig. 15, 57) from the cyanobacterium Synechococcus (165), contain an acetyl and C12-, Cjo-, and Cg-saturated acid residues and thus belong to the amphiphilic marine siderophores (cf. Sect. 2.8). Both rhizobactin 1021 and the synechobactins are substituted unsymmetrically. Hence, for each, the central C-atom of citric acid is chiral, but its stereochemistry has not been determined.
