Ammonium and related ions

The NF4 ion exists in salts such as (NF4)(AsF5) and (NF4)(SbFg) prepared from NF3, F2, and MF5 heated under pressure. (NF4)(AsF6) is a stable, colourless, non-volatile, hygroscopic solid at 25°C, presumably structurally similar to (PCl4)(PCl6) n.m.r. shows that all four F atoms attached to N are equivalent 

A neutron diffraction study of NH3OH. Cl gives N—0, 1-37 A, and the value 1 41 A was found in an X-ray study of NH3OH. CIO4 at —150°C.
