Aminoguanidonium hydrogen carbonate is a colorless, odorless solid, whose solubility is less than 0.5 g./lOO ml. of water at room temperature. The pH of a saturated aqueous solution is 7.5 to 8.0. It cannot be recrystallized from hot water because of its instability. It decomposes slowly above 50 both as a solid and in solution, and melts with decomposition at 171 to 173 in a preheated oil bath. A comprehensive review of the chemistry of aminoguanidine has been written by lieber and Smith. ... [Pg.47]
