Aminoadipic acid Aad 2-Aminohexanedioic acid HOOC - (C H2)3 - CH N H,) - COOH... 

This enzyme [EC 2.6.1.39] catalyzes the reversible reaction of 2-aminoadipate with 2-oxoglutarate (or, a-ketoglutarate) to generate 2-oxoadipate and glutamate. The enzyme requires pyridoxal phosphate. 

This enzyme [EC 1.2.1.31], also known as a-aminoadi-pate reductase, catalyzes the reaction of L-2-aminoadi-pate 6-semialdehyde with NADP+ and water to generate L-2-aminoadipate and NADPH. 

This enzyme [EC 2.6.1.36], also called lysine e-aminotransferase, catalyzes the pyridoxal-phosphate-depen-dent reaction of L-lysine with a-ketoglutarate (or, 2-ox-oglutarate) to produce 2-aminoadipate 6-semialdehyde...

In protozoa, alanine is generally the amino acid present at the highest concentration. High levels of glycine, serine and threonine have been reported. Amino acids other than those required for protein synthesis have also been detected. These include 2-aminobutyrate, 2-aminoadipate, hydroxylysine, 3-methylhistidine, norleucine, norva-line, ornithine and taurine. Amino acid levels fluctuate according to culture conditions.
