Amines as Carrier Ligands

The use of the 1,2-diarylethylenediamine estrogen receptors as the neutral ligand attempts to improve the susceptibility of mammary tumours [79]. In this respect, steroids have also been used to carry Pt for selectivity to hormone-dependent tumours [80]. The steroid is functionalized and linked via an or /zo-catecholate group bound to platinum, in this system the neutral groups were in fact triphenylphosphine [80]. 

Finally, in this section, we should mention the complexing to immunoglobulins which enhances inhibition of DNA synthesis, not only of linked cisplatin but also for PtCl , in comparison with the activity of the free compounds [82]. Again, the possibility exists of activating hitherto inactive or weakly active structures. The use of a metalloimmunoassay to target metal complexes is a novel approach which has also been described [83, 84].
