Asymmetric allylation amination reactions

Kinetic resolution of racemic allylic acetates has been accomplished via asymmetric dihydroxylation (p. 1051), and 2-oxoimidazolidine-4-carboxy-lates have been developed as new chiral auxiliaries for the kinetic resolution of amines. Reactions catalyzed by enzymes can be utilized for this kind of resolution. ... [Pg.154]

A diverse group of secondary and tertiary amines are readily synthesized from the reaction of primary and secondary amines with allylic carbonates in the presence of preformed iridium metalacycles, but the direct synthesis of primary amines via iridium-catalyzed allylic amination requires the use of ammonia as a nucleophile. The asymmetric allylation of ammonia had not been reported until very recently, and it is not a common reagent in other metal-catalyzed reactions. Nonetheless, Hartwig and coworkers developed the reactions of ammonia with allylic carbonates in the presence of la generated in situ [89]. Reactions conducted in the initial work led exclusively to the products from diallylation (Scheme 16). Further advances in... [Pg.191]

More recently, Hartwig and coworkers reported iridium-catalyzed, asymmetric aminations of allylic alcohols in the presence of Lewis acid activators [103]. The addition of molecular sieves and Nb(OEt)5 or catalytic amounts of BPh3 activated the allylic alcohol sufficiently to allow allylic amination reactions to occur in high yield, branched-to-linear selectivity, and enantioselectivity (Scheme 29). Without the activators, only trace amounts of product were observed. [Pg.202]

For asymmetric allylic amination reactions, chiral sulfur diimides and selenium diimides are efficient chiral reagents (Sections D.7.4. and D.7.6.). The synthesis uses (S)-l-phenylethylamine as a chiral auxiliary26. [Pg.241]

During the last decade, use of oxazaborolidines and dioxaborolidines in enantioselective catalysis has gained importance. [1, 2] One of the earliest examples of oxazaborolidines as an enantioselective catalyst in the reduction of ketones/ketoxime ethers to secondary alco-hols/amines was reported by Itsuno et al. [3] in which (5 )-valinol was used as a chiral ligand. Since then, a number of other oxazaborolidines and dioxaborolidines have been investigated as enantioselective catalysts in a number of organic transformations viz a) reduction of ketones to alcohols, b) addition of dialkyl zinc to aldehydes, c) asymmetric allylation of aldehydes, d) Diels-Alder cycloaddition reactions, e) Mukaiyama Michael type of aldol condensations, f) cyclopropana-tion reaction of olefins. [Pg.44]

Nemoto and Hamada [50] has described the development of a new class of chiral phosphorus ligand - aspartic acid-derived P-chirogenic diaminophosphine oxides, DIAPHOXs - and their application to several Pd-catalyzed asymmetric allylic substitution reactions. Pd-catalyzed asymmetric allylic alkylation was initially examined in detail using diaminophosphine oxides 77, resulting in the highly enantioselective construction of quaternary stereocenters. With the use of the Pd-DIAPHOX catalyst system, asymmetric allylic alkylation, asymmetric allylic amination, and enantioselective construction of quaternary carbons were achieved with high ee (up to 97-99% in many cases) (Scheme 24). [Pg.179]
