Amidosilanes, Silazanes

Amidosilanes are important as neutral reacting crosslinking agents for silicone sealants (e.g. methyltriacetamidosilane) as well as agents for introducing protective groups in the synthesis of pharmaceuticals (particularly urea-derivatives such as N,N -bistrimethylsilylurea). 

Amidosilanes can be synthesized with the aid of very strong bases, such as sodium methoxide, from chlorosilanes and organic amides. 

N -bistrimethyIsilylurea is obtained by reacting hexamethyldisilazane with urea
