Alternating Copolymers of Nucleoside Derivatives and Alkenyl Anhydride Monomers

Alternating Copolymers of Nucleoside Derivatives and Alkenyl Anhydride Monomers [Pg.5]

As most of the PNAs synthesized above did not contain sugar moieties or hydrophilic groups, they were insoluble in water. Additionally, the alternating sequences between nucleoside and phosphate, observed in the natural nucleic acids, were rarely realized in the previous synthetic methods, resulting in structures quite different from those of the natural ones. One of the recent studies on PNAs intended to synthesize those resembling more closely the natural ones and investigate their properties in aqueous solutions (biological conditions) [8-14]. [Pg.5]
