The retention of one shape parameter may indicate the importance of geometry. The electronic properties of nitrosamines have been shown to be related to carcinogenic potential as well (25,59,60, 61). The retention of two sigma charge parameters in this study supports the hypothesis of the importance of alpha hydroxylation (62,63) in the bioactivation of nitrosamines.
