Alkylation and Arylation of Nanodiamond

There are several procedures leading to an alkylation or arylation of the diamond surface. These reactions are of special interest because, contrary to the pristine diamond, the products obtained exhibit a much less polar surface and hence should be dispersible in organic solvents. [Pg.375]

Apart from the cycloadditions presented seperately in Section 5.5.2.7, reactions suitable to attach hydrocarbons directly to the diamond surface include the treatment with C-nucleophiles, the photochemical connection with co-vinyl reagents or radical processes. [Pg.375]

It has been mentioned before that, apart from functional groups, there are also domains on the particle surface that are characterized by an sp -hybridization of carbon atoms. The surface dimers forming on the (100)-plane are a well-known [Pg.376]
