Alkyl -phenylethenyl sodium borohydride

Alkyl phenylethynyl telluriums were reduced by sodium borohydride in refluxing ethanol to (Z)-alkyl phenylethenyl telluriums1,2. [Pg.456]

Z)-Alkyl Phenylethenyl Tellariam1 Under nitrogen, 93 mg (2.5 mmol) sodium borohydride in 3 ml ethanol are added to the alkyl phenylethynyl tellurium (2.0 mmol) in 10 ml ethanol. The stirred solution is refluxed for 3 h. 0.5 ml water, 0,5 ml 10% aqueous sodium hydroxide and then 30 ml diethyl ether are added. The mixture is washed with brine. The organic phase is separated, dried with anhydrous magnesium sulfate, Tillered, and the filtrate evaporated. The residue is chromatographed on silica gel with hexane as mobile phase. [Pg.456]
