Alkyl or Aryl Bis tertiary phosphine Hydroxo Complexes of Platinum II

ALKYL OR ARYL BIS(TERTIARY PHOSPHINE) HYDROXO COMPLEXES OF PLATINUM(II) 

Complexes of the type [Pt(OH)RL2] (R = alkyl or aryl L2 = two mono-dentate tertiary phosphines or a bidentate ditertiary phosphine) are rare examples of monomeric, uncharged hydroxo complexes of platinum(II). Their interesting chemical properties arise from the presence of typical

The complex rraAis-[Pt(OH)(C6H5)(PPh3)2] is an air-stable, colorless solid that is readily soluble in CH2CI2, CHCI3, THF, and benzene. No band due to voH could be identified in the IR spectrum in a KBr disk, although Otsuka et al. report that the vqh band appears at 3613 cm (Nujol) and at 3619 cm (CH2CI2). The H NMR spectrum in CD2CI2 shows the OH
