Alkaloids tetracyclic brominated

Petrosamine B (1139), an isomer of the known petrosamine (7 ). was characterized from the Australian sponge Oceanapia sp. (1167). The structure of the tetracyclic brominated alkaloid pantherinine (1) has been confirmed by total synthesis... [Pg.175]

These isoquinoline alkaloids are characterized by the tetracyclic structure present in 699, and have been synthesized via pyrrolinediones 698 and arynes. For example, 698 (R = OMe, = Br) and 4,5-dimethoxybenzyne (generated via aprotic diazotization of the anthranilic acid) in refluxing DME gave 699 (R = R = OMe, R = Br) in 44% yield. Hydrogenolysis of the bromine gave 8-oxypseudopalmatine 699 (R = R = OMe, r2 = fj)29ib,c jg important that R not be H otherwise side reactions, including arylation... [Pg.1110]
