Alien Encounters

We can view alien encounter experiences in a new light, now that we know that DMT can often produce visions of cartoon-like aliens and elves. If levels of endogenous DMT in the brain can fluctuate, they could produce such visions. Now, the big question is is there any actual validity to such odd apparitions ... [Pg.87]

Some of the more classic examples of pseudoscience include witchcraft, alien encounters or any topic that is explained by hearsay. [Pg.148]

Many analytical practitioners encounter a serious mental block when attempting to deal with factor spaces. The basis of the mental block is twofold. First, all this talk about abstract vector spaces, eigenvectors, regressions on projections of data onto abstract factors, etc., is like a completely alien language. Even worse, the techniques are usually presented as a series of mathematical equations from a statistician s or mathematician s point of view. All of this serves to separate the (un )willing student from a solid relationship with his data a relationship that, usually, is based on visualization. Second, it is often not clear why we would go through all of the trouble in the first place. How can all of these "abstract", nonintuitive manipulations of our data provide any worthwhile benefits ... [Pg.79]

In my book The Science of Aliens, I write about some of Whitley Strieber s experiences with strange realities. Strieber is famous for his book Communion, which describes his encounters with aliens. When I had written my book, I felt that Strieber bordered on foolish because some of his descriptions of aliens were zany. Some looked cartoonlike, while others were the more standard versions of aliens that most of us contemplate today. In light of reading about DMT experiences, I can see more of an overlap in Strieber s descriptions and DMT-mediated aliens, elves, and other beings. [Pg.87]

Everyone seems to have their own perspectives on the DMT beings. Anthropologist Michael Harner met bird-headed people who explained that they were the true gods of our reality. Various Amazonian tribes like the Secoya drink ayahuasca in a deliberate attempt to communicate with heavenly beings. Rick Strassman suggested that the DMT entities actually dwell in the parallel realities posited by modern theories of physics. Terence McKenna called the beings that he frequently encountered selftransforming machine elves. Like Strassman, McKenna speculated that DMT opens a portal to a parallel reality inhabited by these alien creatures. [Pg.94]

Recent medications prevent the insane from following their alienation through. They have thereby lost their own "liberation." Eve when they cannot really be cured, they are damped. Strange, dull "improved" cases, which one encounters at present in the asylums or outside, madmen frustrated of their madness. . . (p.190). [Pg.274]

At the same time, it is clear that nothing would be more tragic in the American exploration of space than to encounter alien life and fail to recognize it either because of the consequences of contamination or because of the lack of proper tools and scientific preparation. [Pg.101]

The kinds of encounters with alien intelligences and hyperspace communication that Terence McKenna speaks about are probably more likely to be encountered in high dose sessions that the individual does alone. Such sessions do, however, carry a certain risk of temporary insanity and may often result in little more than prolonged states of dissociated awareness without any memory or understanding. [Pg.45]

Extraterrestrial themes are a firmly established motif of our evolving mythos. The UFO contact is now seen by many investigators to be an interface between inner and outer dimensions, analogous to a kind of involuntary Shamanic encounter. It is a significant fact that Psychotropic drugs, proven catalysts for accessing the mythic realms of the psyche, frequently evoke alien contact experiences. Terence McKenna describes extraterrestrial and UFO themes as typical psychedelic events ... [Pg.103]

You re possibly the most alien person I have ever encountered in my life. [Pg.282]

The islander is complete in every respect because the variety of work that he performs does not cause him to become alienated from his own labour. Crucially, the most important consequence of that situation to a writer like Synge is that the aesthetic sensibility has not been severed from a practical orientation to daily life. Unlike in the big world of late colonial modernity, in which the intellectual labour of cultural production was distinct from socially respectable forms of employment which drove development, in Synge s view art and work presented different facets of the same unified life on the Aran Islands. In poems like Adam s Curse , Yeats praised precisely the same unification of art and labour, but lamented the fact that it was a characteristic of the past that had disappeared as a possibility. To Synge, this whole way of life was not to be found in the past of tradition, but within the present in the alternative modernity he encountered on Inis Meain. [Pg.142]
