Air humidifier

In the cooling tower the temperature of the liquid falls and the temperature and humidity of the air rise, and its action is thus similar to that of an air humidifier. The limiting temperature to which the water can be cooled is the wet-bulb temperature corresponding to the condition of the air at inlet. The enthalpy of the air stream does not remain... 

The cold recovery device consists of an exhaust air humidifier with an integrated heat exchanger and the supply air heat exchanger, which are connected by a fluid circuit. The first can be described as an indirect evaporative cooler. The cold recovery device is able to transport 83% of the maximum possible enthalpy difference from the exhaust air to the supply air. 

To prevent excessive dryness of the working atmosphere, which favours the build up of static electricity, wet cloths should be hung about the building or air-humidifying equipment used.

For the cooling or humidification tower discussed, the operating line lies below the equilibrium line and water is cooled and air humidified. In a dehumidification tower cool water is used to reduce the humidity and temperature of the air that enters. In this case the operating line is above the equilibrium line. Similar calculation methods are used (Tl). 

In the most simple case as shown in Fig. 4.20, an active air supply subsystem consists of an air intake filter to remove particles and possibly impurities poisoning the cathode catalysts, a compressor or blower and an air humidifier that can also include the function of an air cooler.
