Air gap length

This is an estimated air-gap length. The designer should use the elosest value of air-gap available within the standard eore part number. 

Tet us make the air-gap 50 mils, whieh is a eustom air-gap. Magneties has no problem with this praetiee and usually adds only a eouple of pereent to the eore eost. The induetanee faetor (AT) for this eore with this gap is estimated at 160mH/1000T (using a linear extrapolation of AT reduetion versus air-gap length).

Parameters connected to the spinning experiment include temperature, dope extrusion rate, spinneret type (double/triple), geometry and dimensions, air-gap length, and atmosphere (moisture). 

Figure 7.7 depicts the effect of NMP/water bore-fluid composition on the PVDF fiber-membrane structure spun under an air-gap length of 1 cm, using water as the external coagulant and free fall condition (i.e., without take-up stretching) [13].

Important process variables in film casting include the draw ratio, defined as the ratio of the velocity at the chill roll to the veloeity at the die exit, and the air gap length [2]. The air gap length is the distance between the die exit and the point of eontact between the film and the chill roll.
