Additives beta diketones

Metal chelates containing beta-diketonate ligands have been used for a variety of purposes, including gas chromatography of metals,1 metal plating on surfaces,2 solvent extraction of metals,3 5 catalysts, and fuel additives.6-7 The physical properties of these complexes that determine their usefulness in these areas are thermal stability, volatility, and solubility in nonpolar solvents. [Pg.144]

Unlike the results found by Loyland et al (30) for uranium, we observed no repartitioning of either plutonium or americium amongst the various operational soil fractions after SFE. In all SFE experiments conducted in this work a net reduction of both plutonium and americium activity was observed across all soil fractions. Additionally, as the ligand system was changed from the less acidic beta-diketone TTA to the more acidic beta-diketone HFA the extraction efficiency of plutonium from the sesquioxide and residual fractions increased dramatically. Thus, it is likely that a more effective, and possibly complete, extraction could be performed if a reagent were added in small quantities to the extraction mixture to specifically attack the sesquioxide fraction. [Pg.45]

Several structurally different diketones (acetylacetone, methyl 2-oxocyclohex-ane carboxylate) and active methylene compounds (diethyl malonate, ethyl aceto-acetate) and thiols (methyl thioglycolate) underwent clean, fast, and efficient Michael addition with methyl vinyl ketone, acrolein, and methyl acrylate over NaY and Na beta zeolites [88] in high yield (70-80%). The reactions were performed in the absence of solvent, at room temperature, with 1 g catalyst per mmol donor. When HY zeolite was used instead of NaY formation of the desired Michael adduct was low and polymerization of Michael acceptor was the main reaction. [Pg.323]
