Additives anti-ozonants

Compounds are pervasive in the polymer industry. Indeed, even presumably neat polymers are compounds containing antidegradents, which are antioxidants and/or anti-ozonants. These additives are small polar molecules. In more complex compounds there are in addition other polymers, reinforcing fillers, oils, curatives, and accelerators, which are intended to crosslink polymers. These are also small, usually polar, molecules. This chapter is about the philosophy of the polymer compound and the characteristics of their various ingredients.

The use of MTBE as a fuel additive leads to improvements in the gasoline quality (so-called oxyfuels oxygen-containing gasoUnes). First of all, burning of the fuels is optimized as the content of harmful components in exhaust gases is reduced (benzene, ozone, NOx and CO). A second positive effect is the improvement in the anti-knock property of the fuel (increase in the octane rating). 

Vulcanox 3100 is a powerful, persistent antioxidant and anti-flexcracklng agent for most diene rubbers (NR, IR, SBR, NBR), imparting moderate antiozonant properties. Ozone resistance can be improved by the addition of microcrystalline waxes.
