Additions to CO

De Bruyne himself was undoubtedly no small factor in the spread of adhesive bonding through the European aerospace community. In addition to co-inventing the Redux family of adhesives, he was involved in the conceptual development of the Mosquito and numerous other aircraft and sponsored (and taught) a series of educational sessions on the benefits of structural bonding during the post-war years. 

In addition to CO(v = 0—2,7) populations, Houston and Kable recorded CO Doppler profiles to measure the translational energy release, and the vector correlation between the recoil velocity vector and the angular momentum vector of CO. In addition to CO(g) formation, step (2) exposes a variable number, n, of previously inactive carbon atoms, C, thus producing C to continue the reaction. The average value of n is close to unity, so that Nc. varies slowly as reaction proceeds.

Non-noble metals such as Ni, Co, Mo, W, Fe, Ag and Cu have been added to zeolites for use in catalysis. In addition to CO, nitric oxide (NO) has been shown to be a good adsorbate for probing the electronic environment of these metals. When NO chemisorbs on these metals, it can form mononitrosyl (M-NO) and dinitrosyl species (ON-M-NO). The monontrosyl species has a single absorption band and the dinitrosyl species has two bands due to asymmetric and symmetric vibrational modes of the (ON-M-NO) moiety. Again, there have been many studies reported in the literature on the use of NO and/or CO adsorption on non-noble metals supported on zeolites and they are too numerous to list here. Several examples have been selected and summarized to provide the reader with the type of information that can be provided by this method. 

CO2 molecule, or Mg + and CO2 play the role of oxide acceptor to form water, carbonate, and MgC03, respectively [38]. The reactions of the iron carboxylate with these Lewis acids are thought to be fast and not rate determining. For the cobalt and nickel macrocyclic catalysts, CO2 is the ultimate oxide acceptor with formation of bicarbonate salts in addition to CO, but it is not clear what the precise pathway is for decomposition of the carboxylate to CO [33]. The influence of alkali metal ions on CO2 binding for these complexes was discussed earlier [15]. It appears the interactions between bound CO2 and these ions are fast and reversible, and one would presume that reactions between protons and bound CO2 are rapid as well. 

Ru has been used as an additive to Co-Mo and Ni-Mo (38) to improve their hydrogenation and denitrogenation activities.
