Actions, Emotions, Procrastination

Emotions are what actually propel businesses forward. We use words like motivation and passion, but what we re really talking about are emotions and in order to become better at managing the emotions of otiiers, we need to become better managers of our own. [Pg.82]

Becoming better managers of our emotions involves becoming conscious again, and that basically revolves aroimd four subtle, yet conscious steps  [Pg.82]

We often rtm on automatic, especially with our feelings, and we fail to consider them as guideposts to a larger truth that is at the heart of the reality we have created. [Pg.82]

When it comes to our emotions in business— frustration, fear, anxiety, greed—we rarely stop for a moment and consider what triggered them or what actions or events on a larger scale those emotions could then trigger. We need to become more conscious in business and realize that emotion is nothing more than energy in motion (e-motion). Emotions are never separate from our goals, our circum- [Pg.82]


If we want someone to take a particular action—such as purchasing our product— then it is important to not only consider but to also learn about the emotions that are driving that purchase because we don t ever act without first feeling something. Every action (or non-action) contains a feeling if we are afraid, we may procrastinate or retreat into old habits, and if we are feeling anger, we unconsciously become impaired and destructive. [Pg.84]

We can t talk about action without discussing procrastination. There is never a single reason why people put off doing things that are obviously necessary to reach the next step in their business journey. When it has become a head-scratcher that s when procrastination is likely about emotion. It isn t about the physicality of deadlines or presstires of performance but instead the nebulous, evasive churning that is so hard to get a handle on. [Pg.86]
