Action Class hierarchy

The hierarchy of liquid crystals can be characterised in a number of ways. The major division is between liquid crystals that gain mobility through the addition of a solvent, termed lyotropic, and those which form a fluid by the action of heat, termed thermotropic. Within each type there are numerous subdivisions and classes, many of which are related by symmetry. [Pg.199]
