Gould (1986) has identified a number of pivotal issues with respect to salt selection for basic drugs. The uses of salts to control a number of properties are illustrated in Table 3.7. The range of salts used in drug products is shown in Table 3.8 (Berge et al. 1977), and Table 3.9 shows the pKas of some weak acids used in salt formation.
