Acid temperature control absorption tower

Control of temperatures of acid and gas at the inlet to the absorption towers. [Pg.27]

The gas leaving the tower is cooled further in a heat exchanger (economizer) before entering the absorption tower where the SO3 is absorbed in a recirculated stream of concentrated sulfuric acid. The sulfuric acid is maintained at the desired concentration (usually 98% H2SO4) by water addition, and its temperature is controlled in the desired range of 70 -90 C measured at the tower inlet by cooling the recirculated add. Some of the... [Pg.297]
