Acetylene frequencies carbon hydrogen stretch

If the unknown were acetylene, the first member of homologous series, the C=C stretch should be below the usual frequency (2120 cm ) for the triple bond. The 732 cm band can be assigned to the C—H bend for a hydrogen bonded to a carbon-carbon triple bond.
