1 Acetyl-Lysine Mimetic Fragments Crystallized with Bromodomains 

A GFP (green fluorescent protein)-tagged protein is transfected into a mammalian cell. The ectopically expressed protein is targeted to the nucleus and binds to acetyl-lysine sites on chromatin. A small area of the nucleus is bleached using a laser and the recovery of the photobleached region (circle) is measured as a function of time. 

N-acetyl-2-methyltetrahydroquinoline (6), 1-(1-(pyridin-2-yl)indolizin-3-yl)ethanone (7), acetaminophen (paracetamol) (8), 3-methyl-3,4-dihydroquinazolin-2(1H)-one (9), and 4-phenyl 3,5-dimethyl isoxazole (10).
