Acetic Acid Dehydration Via Heteroazeotropic Batch Distillation

3 ACETIC ACID DEHYDRATION VIA HETEROAZEOTROPIC BATCH DISTILLATION [Pg.404]

Although acetic acid and water do not form an azeotrope, the use of conventional distillation to separate these two components requires many equilibrium stages because the system has a tangent pinch on the pure water end of the xy diagram. Therefore, it is more economical to use a heterogeneous azeotropic distillation system with an entrainer for the separation. [Pg.404]
