Acceptor Doping in Perovskite Structure Oxides

The introduction of an impurity cation onto one sublattice of perovskite structure oxides can change the defects on the other cation sublattice, on the oxygen sublattice, [Pg.381]

As the introduced cations are large, interstitial formation can be regarded as less likely, leaving anion vacancy formation  [Pg.382]

The concentration of oxygen vacancies is half that of the concentration of Sr dopant  [Pg.382]

The composition of the phase is then Laj Sr CoO -xji- If compensation is electronic, the vacancies are imagined to be filled by atmospheric oxygen  [Pg.382]

The number of holes is thus equal to the dopant concentration. The possibility that the holes are localized on Co atoms is reasonable  [Pg.382]
