There is also discussion of marijuana s portrayal in the arts and attitudes toward the drug in different cultures.

Describes the causes and consequences of fetal alcohol syndrome, including pregnancy-related problems (such as spontaneous abortion), birth defects, and neurological abnormalities. There is also discussion of how to diagnose the condition and how to estimate its prevalence.

The best general history of marijuana is Marihuana The Twelve Thousand Years hy Ernest L Abel (London Plenum Press, 1980). Matiiliana Botany by Robert Connell Clarke (Berkeley, California And/Or Press, 1981) is about the plant itself. It is lavishly illustrated. Cannabis and Culture, edited by Vera Rubin [The Hague, Netherlands Mouton Publisliers, 1975), is a fine collection of articles that looks ai marijuana from various perspectives.
