A Model to Predict the Tensile Strength of Tablets from Individual Components

6 A Model to Predict the Tensile Strength of Tablets from Individual Components [Pg.402]

In an earlier paper, Wu et al. [20] proposed a model to calculate the radial tensile strength of tablets from the Ryshkewitch-Duckworth parameters of [Pg.402]

Here we propose a model which is similar to that proposed by Wu et al. [20] but which differs from that of the earher authors by drawing more strongly from the principles of adhesion science. The form of the final [Pg.403]

For a material the tensile strength, T, is related to the surface free energy, Y [19]. Thus for two particles composed of the same material. [Pg.403]

Berthelofs rule is thus applied to the tensile strength between particles. We extend Berthelofs rule for an ensemble of particles assuming the geometric mean rule applies to an ensemble of adhesive contacts between particles and is weighted via the surface area fraction, thus [Pg.403]
