A-Lithiated glycals

An interesting feature of the chemistry in Scheme 2 is the regioselectivity of the glycosylation procedure with bromobenzoquinone. The directing effect of a halo substituent provides regiocontrol for this and other sequences (see below) that build on the addition of a lithiated glycal to a haloquinone. [Pg.97]
