8CB molecules on graphite

The development of Scanning Probe techniqnes allows to study liquid crystal molecules and their ordering on and interaction with surfaces with an rmprecedented resolntion. In this part we will describe how detailed information down to the atomic sc lle can be obtained by STM studies of 8CB molecules on graphite.
