0X174, virus

Fl-FFF, in the lift-hyperlayer mode, was applied for the high-speed (2 to 3 min) fractionation of normal and abnormal erythrocytes from various species [ 12] as illustrated in Fig. 32. Furthermore, various viruses were successfully separated including bacteriophage Q 3,MS2, f2 and 0x174 [231,241]. [Pg.159]

In their structure, mature particles of phage 0X174 are just as simple as the particles of simple viruses of plants and animals. The capsule of this phage consists of 12 morphologically identical protein structures (capsids) located at the apices of an icosahedron (Tromans and Horne, 1961 Maclean and Hall, 1962). [Pg.43]

The "program of development" in DNA of phage 0X174 is thus extremely limited, and its execution involves no more complex problems than those occurring during reproduction of the simple viruses of plants and animals. [Pg.46]

The structural features of the GAAA DNA loop are qualitatively consistent with the structure determined for its RNA analogue. This loop is found in phage 0X174 at the origin of replication and herpes simplex virus, in the promoter region of an E.coli heat shock gene, and at virion RNA polymersase promoters. [Pg.52]
